It can be a very costly mistake! Going into a store to buy a handgun without any knowledge of handguns. You’re leaving yourself open to nothing but the salesman’s suggestions. You have nothing else to go by, maybe some friends suggestions or you read some magazine articles. I fell into this trap years ago when I first stated shooting. I didn’t know anything about handguns went to a store bought what the salesman suggest and knew as soon as I shot it i didn’t like the pistol.
I offer my students the opportunity to try out any of the many different types of handguns I have. They are able to shoot them at the at the range during their live fire training. They get to feel what way the firearm fits their hand, the recoil impulse of the caliber they are shooting. Trying out as many different types and calibers of firearms as you can will help you make a better informed decision when you go to purchase your firearm. Firearms are like shoes, you must try them out before you really know if they fit you.
