Firearm safety is very simple to do, only takes a few seconds at most. Why are there so many accidents with firearms then? I believe a lot of the answer is complacency in handling firearms. If you had any type of firearm training safety is always covered and reiterated through out the teachings. Four simple rules:
1) Make sure to check that the firearm is unloaded “every” time you handle it
2) Never cover anything with the muzzle that you don’t intend to shoot
3) Keep your finger off the trigger along side the frame until your ready to shoot
4) Always be sure of your target and whats beyond
Theses rules vary depending on where you studied but they all address the same concept.
You must always remember and follow these rules with out failure. Accidents with firearms happen because of a rule was neglected. It doesn’t matter if your a new shooter or a seasoned shooter with years of experiences. An accident doesn’t care and an accident with a firearm you can never take back. Take your time, think about what your doing and how to apply the safety rules each and every time you handle your firearm. You wont be sorry for it
